The Commonwealth comprises 56 independent countries from across Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Pacific. With 2.5 billion citizens living in Commonwealth countries, more than 60% are aged under 29, representing more than 1.5 billion young people.
The Street Soccer Foundation is very proud to support The Commonwealth and the Year of Youth through our global Football For Good project.
Football For Good is a global movement with a worldwide agenda aimed at showcasing how the power of football brings people together. How football can champion peace, equality, diversity and inclusion. How it can unite communities all over the world. And how it can inspire, educate and empower others to make a positive change – both for themselves and their communities.
In its inaugural year, the INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL FOR GOOD DAY will take place on Sunday 19th November 2023 and intends on becoming a global amplification of football-led programmes and activities taking place over 24 hours across the Commonwealth, in celebration of how the global no.1 sport can be used as a force for good. In the UK, the Football For Good initiative has the additional support from the Royal Family, the Prime Minster, and The Mayor of London, as well as key partners such as Catalyst in Communities – an award-winning community-led social business, and will represent a national celebration of youth leadership, education, development and empowerment work delivered throughout the year via the nationally acclaimed Street Soccer Academy programme, delivered in partnership with several professional football club community organisations nationwide. As part of the unique event, fellow partners GAME and Xbox will be installing a gaming arena into the London Stadium for selected young people to participate in one of the very first EA Sports FC24 tournaments too!
And – if this wasn’t enough, the Football For Good Day will then lead onto the first-ever London Stadium Sleepout event to be staged, giving individuals from across the City of London the chance to show their support in tackling youth homelessness through the power of football, by sleeping outdoors on the North Deck inside the Stadium, for a night never to be forgotten. By swapping your bed for a sleeping bag for just one night, you will help raise awareness of homelessness as well as crucial funds that will be invested into the UK’s No.1 football-led project tackling youth homelessness: the Street Soccer Academy.
Football is a team sport.
If you love the game as much as we do and are an example of how football is being used as a force for good, please get in touch with us to join the global movement and to help us collectively spread peace, equality, diversity and inclusion through the global no.1 sport.
Whether you are a player, a manager, an educator, a fan, a coach or a spectator; we warmly invite you to share with us your football-led programmes, activities and stories of how the beautiful game is making a positive social impact in your local community – for the benefit of you and others around you.
